The pick your own is open. With the advent of some sunshine we now have a good pick of strawberries. Also currently available and very easy to pick are gooseberries, blackcurrants and rhubarb.
After the weekend we will have raspberries, tayberries, redcurrants and broad beans.
Other crops expected by mid to late July include the courgettes and marrows.
The season so far has been very challenging. Initially too dry and then too cold and wet. This has caused a range of issues from poor germination, slow crop establishment, poor crop pollination, more pest and disease damage than usual.
Compared with last year all crops are between two or three weeks behind this is particularly noticeable with our sunflowers, runner beans and sweet corn.
