The sweetcorn is now ready, lots of fat juicy cobs just waiting to be picked. Available for pick your own at 49p per cob or ready picked in the farm shop at 69p/cob. Delicious straight from the field or cooked with a knob of butter.
There is now a wide variety of fresh produce to pick in the field. The rhubarb is still going strong and we have excellent picks of courgettes, marrows and squash.
The late strawberries have now got into their stride and there is now a very good pick to enjoy. We also have a good pick of blackberries.
The raspberries, however are still quite hard work as the autumn crop has not quite got going yet. We do still have blackcurrants and redcurrants but these are now getting ripe and will soon be going over.
Also in the pick your own field we have a mini maize maze for the kids to run around. This is grown from a cattle fodder variety of maize and we recommend that you do not pick the cobs, as you will be very disappointed when you get them home!
Now at their peak, we have a fantastic crop of runner beans. The runner bean is a very versatile vegetable, not only lovely with the Sunday roast but great in salads, risotto, ratatouille and all manner of vegetarian dishes. My mother in law use to make a beautiful runner bean chutney.
