It’s time to look at the Christmas cheese board. Often these things are best kept simple, a blue, a soft cheese and a cheddar and so it is with our final offering of the year. For those wanting a centre piece we have a Christmas cheese cake available to order.

The cake consists of a base of Cropwell Bishop Blue Stilton, a mid section of creamy Camembert topped by a Christmas pudding of Inverloch Cheddar. These are available to order at the deli counter on sale at the bargain price of £20.

Our three feature cheeses for Christmas are listed below and as usual cheese club members will be entitled to a 10% discount.

This offer is time limited and will end on Wednesday 18th December 2019.

Cropwell Bishop Blue Stilton
A multiple award winning cheese and one of our favourites. It has a rich tangy flavour, and a velvety-soft texture that makes it melt in the mouth. Carefully handcrafted, using methods that have changed little since the 17th Century. To allow this Stilton to develop its unique flavour, it is aged for 12 weeks. The Cropwell Bishop Creamery also make a very good soft blue called Beauvale and a Shropshire Blue.

Brie de Meaux – Rouzaire
Rouzaire has been an independant family owned company for 3 generations. The dairy and cellars are located in the heart of the Brie area. This is a raw, soft unpasteurised cow’s milk cheese covered with a bloomy rind, a result of inoculation with Penicillium Candidum molds. As the cheese ages, the rind develops red or brown patches. When nearly half of the straw coloured pate is ripe and soft, it indicates Brie de Meaux is ready for consumption. Not suitable for vegetarians.

Mature Warwickshire
Fowlers are reputedly one of the oldest cheesemakers in the country and can trace their ancestors back to the 1670’s. What we do know is certain, is that we have sold their cheese for a long time going right back to the days of the wooden shop at the top of the hill. Today the dairy combines up-to-date equipment with hands-on expertise and the result is a range of which any cheesemaker would be proud. Mature Warwickshire is a cheddar style cheese with a good strong flavour.
