The pick your own is now open for pumpkin picking.
There is no entry fee to the pumpkin patch but the pumpkins are sold at 59p/kg.
Therefore the larger / heavier the pumpkin you pick the more it will cost. Please only pick what you are willing to pay for.
This year there is a little bit more foliage than usual, the cooler wetter weather has meant that the plants have not died back as quickly as usual. Pumpkin stalks have lots of tiny little hairs that can be quite rough/prickly on soft skin. Bring secateurs if you are worried about your hands. For the more rufty tufty the pumpkins will just pull loose, but take care not to break the handle or damage the pumpkin. Damage to the pumpkin’s skin provides entry wounds for mould to get in.
We have a wide mix of sizes and varieties of pumpkin.
These include white pumpkins as pictured and a variety of squash called Crown Prince which is light blue in colour (99p/kg).
There are also numerous varieties of squash to pick including harlequin and baby bear (99p/kg).
Finally it has been very wet recently, please wear sensible footwear, ideally wellies.
