FAQs

Why do I have to pay an entry fee?
Unfortunately in the past large groups of people have gone into the pyo field and not picked anything. The entry fee is a small down payment on any produce picked.

What happens if I pick more than the entry fee?
Any additional produce picked above the cost of the entry fee is charged at the prices listed.

Can we get a refund if we don’t pick our entry fee?
No. It can ONLY be reimbursed as produce picked in the pick your own.

What if we pick too much?
Customers  must pay for all the produce they pick.
To avoid picking more produce than required customers are advised to supervise children properly and match the picking containers to their budget.

Do you provide containers? Can we bring our own?
We provide clear plastic punnets, but they are not free of charge. The weight of the container is included with the weight of the fruit you purchase. Our plastic punnets typically cost 8p.
Customers are welcome to bring their own containers, but we need to weigh them before you enter the picking field, so that we know how much to deduct from the cost of your fruit.

Can we eat the fruit?
The entry fee is not a licence to eat. A small amount of sampling is allowed, but abuse of this is theft.

How long can we stay in the PYO Field?
As long as necessary, provided you are picking fruit that you intend to purchase. Once you have finished picking it’s time to leave.

Why pick your own? They are cheaper in the supermarkets and I don’t want that many anyway?
Could you be approaching this with the wrong mind set? Given the choice would your kids prefer a trip to Tesco’s, to pick up a punnet of strawberries or the uncontained joy of the pick your own experience?  An outing that is not only healthy and educational but an entertainment too.  Carefully picked fresh fruit  will keep in the fridge for a week, more than enough time to eat a couple of punnets of strawberries.

Can we take a picnic into the picking area?
No, but we do have a grassy area at the bottom of the car park where you can picnic.

Can we take our dog into the picking area?
The picking field is a food production area and as such dogs are strictly prohibited.
