Ridges for Roasties, Ready for Rain!
An update from the fields on this year’s potato crop
Yesterday’s dramatic sky arrived just in time to give our potato beds the drink they’d been waiting for. We’re always grateful when nature gives us a helping hand, especially at this time of year when the crops are settling in for the season ahead.
This year, our potato fields are home to three varieties: Marfona, Melody, and Mozart- our red skinned variety. These are all versatile, all-rounders, ideal for everything from crispy roasties and creamy mash to those comforting jacket potatoes we all crave when the weather cools.
Looking ahead to harvest time, come autumn, these spuds will be ready to dig up and bring straight into our farm shop in Stretton-under-Fosse. Just in time for hearty seasonal meals, Sunday roasts and the kind of comfort cooking that autumn does best.
Our potatoes are grown within two miles of the farm shop, making them a truly local, low-mileage crop. If you’re based in Rugby, we’re just a short countryside drive away- perfect for stocking up on fresh produce while supporting local farming.
