Homegrown Rhubarb – Fresh from Our Warwickshire Farm!
Our homegrown rhubarb is now in the Farm Shop – grown just 200 metres from the shelf, it’s as fresh (and local) as it gets. We’re just outside Coventry, a short drive from Lutterworth and Rugby and as a family-run farm here in Warwickshire, we’re simply pleased to share what’s coming into season.
It’s always pleasing to see the rhubarb emerge, a sure sign that spring is on its way.
Whether you love a classic rhubarb crumble or fancy trying something new like rhubarb gin, now’s the time to enjoy this vibrant, tangy crop.
How We Grow It
Our rhubarb field, just behind the farm shop, is now well established. We grow the well-known variety Timperley Early, prized for its deep red stems and excellent flavour. Planted in raised beds with trickle irrigation and covered with Mypex to retain moisture and reduce weeds, our rhubarb thrives without unnecessary waste – a perfect example of our commitment to sustainable farming.
Is Rhubarb a Fruit or a Vegetable?
Technically, rhubarb is a vegetable, though it’s usually cooked and enjoyed like a fruit in desserts and drinks.
Tasty Ways to Enjoy Rhubarb
• Crumbles & tarts
• Jam & chutney
• Bread and butter pudding
• Muffins, biscuits & even rhubarb gin or vodka
Rhubarb is a great source of Vitamin K and packed with antioxidants.
